Beside Taj Mahal, Agra famous for Agra Fort (also known as Red Fort). Red Fort is a military construction build in 1565 by Mogul King Akbar. The sad story was that Shah Jahan was prisoner in the Red Fort and from fort's window he used to look daily Taj Mahal to remember his wife.
The tomb of Akbar is significant Mughal architectural masterwork, built in 1605-1613, set in 119 acres in Sikandra, neighborhood of Agra, India. The south gate is the largest gate with four white marble chhatri-topped minarets which are similar of the Taj Mahal gates and is also entrance to the tomb.
The grand complex was vacant in 1585, shortly after its conclusion, due to lack of water and proximity with Rajputana areas in North-West. Today much of the imperial complex which spread over nearly two mile long and one mile wide is largely intact and look like a ghost town. Fatehpur Sikri still surrounded by a five mile long wall built during its original construction, on three sides. However apart from the imperial building complex few other buildings stand in the area, which is mostly barren, except of ruins of the bazaars of the old city.
